What problem would you like to solve?

Lack of access to mental health resources - Mental Health Illness

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Many of our public problems including gun violence have stemmed from various forms of mental illness. We are trying to produce an intervention and create preventive strategies to curtail the effects of mental illness.

Further, research shows that there are three barriers for the individuals not obtaining mental health treatment:

1) Low perceived need - not feeling a need for help

2) Structural Barriers - lack of providers and lack of insurance coverage

3) Attitudinal Barriers - thinking that they can handle the problem on their own

4) Perceived Stigma

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Multiple Mental Health Mobil Units that address different age groups to establish preventive strategies and intervene in some mental health intitia that do not require hospitalization such as anxiety.

Who would that help?
