Changes at "English Classes for Chinese Speakers Taught by a Chinese Speaking Teacher"

What problem would you like to solve?

It's very difficult to learn English and to communicate as a Chinese speaker in the Bronx. The ESL classes are for Spanish speakers, and we all want to learn English, but we feel lost without a Chinese teacher. We want someone who speaks Chinese too, so they can help with our struggles of learning English and communicating

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

It is important to help us communicate at the farmstand and in other locations. We want to be able to say what we want to buy and we want to be able to understand when people are giving us instructions. Many of us don't know what's being said, and we want to learn English to be able to fully communicate with others. It relevant to the community because the community is now growing in terms of the Asian population.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Get a Chinese teacher to teach English classes. It will be easier to learn English as a Chinese speaker if we learn from a Chinese teacher.

Who would that help?

Chinese people. There are lots of Chinese people in the Bronx, and we would all benefit from this.
