Essential

Mental Health Info Session and Resource Fair

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

Unaddressed mental health disproportionately impacts people of color who may lack information and access to resources

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

We need to address mental health disparities in communities of color and provide access to care through a network of resources.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Hold a fair in the Harlem community linking social workers and mental health practitioners to community members. Information and resources will be shared and there will be opportunities for sign-up for service e.g. Columbia has an emotional processing space for folks of color in the Harlem community. Representatives can inform community members and sign them up for healing spaces that are free of charge.

Who would that help?

Students, faculty, and staff of institutions like Columbia and mental health community-based organizations.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Morningside Heights & Hamilton Heights.
