What problem would you like to solve?

The foster care system is rife with abuse, neglect, and malfeasance.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Children go into the system, most come out worse than when they go in. Then they age out of the system and go on the street, where they are usually trafficked or end up as addicts.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

We need to reform the system. We need to vet these foster homes better, make consistent surprise wellness visits, limit home many children can be in homes, keep up with the children's medical records, make sure these kids see counselors, ensure these foster partners have clear exit plans for the kids so they don't end up on the street, and have more control of how the money that is given to take care of these kids.

    Who would that help?

    Vulnerable children.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

All of NYC but we can start in the Bronx.
