"Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color"
Describe the challenge you want to address:
Justice impacted persons - Mott Haven has one of the highest rates of incarceration of all the communities in the Bronx. Incarceration impacts children, families, and communities. People returning from prison are excluded from jobs, housing, and education.
What is the solution to the challenge?
Educational, social, spiritual support for children of incarcerated persons. Trauma healing for returning citizens and families of incarcerated persons. Heart of the idea: (1) workshops and programs for returning citizens; (2) trauma healing for BIPOC formerly incarcerated; (3) support programs for children of incarcerated parents: educational, arts, dance, drumming, restorative justice, connections with incarcerated parents
