Do you have specific Neighborhood(s) in mind?
Rosedale
Which group(s) does your idea focus on? Select as many as apply.
Youth
Older Adults
Motor vehicle drivers
Describe the challenge you want to address:
I have lived in Queens since 1990. I have lived in Rosedale since 1993. In my neighborhood there are narrow streets. Years ago, there were many older people who did not drive often. They often had small cars. Now the homes are full of young adults who have large wide cars. When 2 cars meet in my neighborhood, one car has to pull over and give the other space to pass safely. There are some streets that should be labeled "one way." If there was a choice of a one way street then people, who are cautious, could use that street and avoid the narrow, busy 2 way streets. Often there is a delivery truck on a street. These trucks are wide and visibility around them is poor. 249th Street has a corner and with the parked cars, there is a hazard when 2 cars approach each other.
What is the solution to the challenge?
Change 249th Street into a one way street. Study the traffic and change a few more streets (like Caney Road) into one way streets.
