Youth Mentorship Programming

What problem would you like to solve?

We would like to solve the lack of peer mentors and role models that exist in the community of Mott Haven and Melrose to guide our young adults

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

We believe that having role models and mentorships builds characters during the key developmental stage of young adulthood. It is important because we see an increase of young males of color who are looking for a pathway to follow. They seek opportunities and access community sites but identify the need for 1:1 relational interactions.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

We want to create a robust program that pairs Adults in the community with youth in the community to create community and build lifelong bonds.

Who would that help?

It would help overall community and our young adults.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Mott Haven and Melrose
