Paint New York City Green
What problem would you like to solve?
The overwhelming lack of green space, particularly in low-income neighborhoods as well as lack of bike lanes in backroads of the city. Because of this, there are empty lots, no habitats for wild animals, and a lack of mobility.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It cannot be denied that the environment has come into danger from pollution, generally caused by smug from vehicles. In such a city with an emphasis on public transport, we need to stop incentivizing personal car. On top of that, we need to make better use of empty spaces, as empty spaces results in sprawl and is just worse off for our city. The community would surely be benefitted intrinsic form farms and physically for better, cleaner for transportation.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
The idea is really cheap: instead of creating completely new infrastructure, we are just renovating old ones. Think of the highline rather than tear it down the old railroad, we converted it into one of the most popular public parks in the city. We should make better use empty lots to create cheap, but impose proper places. Furthermore, to address car revenue, we need more guidelines, which can easily be made by getting rid of some car lanes, and putting partially bus lanes, discouraging private transportation.
Who would that help?
This issue promotes all levels of society in NYC. All people could benefit from a safer, more focused public transportation sector, that sees less private vehicles being used, along with just a greener city to be proud of .
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
