Restorative Justice in Schools

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Overpolicing in schools, school to prison pipeline, instability of education due to disciplinary issues.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Students are stripped of education; move around schools with current disciplinary systems. Will help students develop conflict resolution skills and reduce violent/unproductive/harmful disciplining.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Restorative justice programming in schools and social work placements.

Who would that help?

Students, teachers, parents.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
