Give your idea a short title:

  • +{"en"=>"Study \"vice tax\": redistributed by neighborhoods"}

Body

    What problem would you like to solve?

    Betting/liquor/smoke shops are concentrated in low income neighborhoods drawing a disproportionate tax that is not returned to those communities. Figuring out % and targeting it back to communities.

    Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

    A totally higher % of these citizen's earnings go to generating the associated taxes of gaming revenue yet goes general budget not generating neighborhoods of revenue.

    What idea do you have to address the problem?

    Produce a study that maps a sample area to demonstrate this disparity, with current technology there are ways to calculate what % neighborhoods generate revenue and target how it might be redistributed. Funds could be mapped for redistribution on a fairer level to underserved communities.

    Who would that help?

    What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Manhattan, West Harlem
