What problem would you like to solve?

We need our teenagers to be teenagers again. We no longer have physical and mental outlets for young ladies to exercise and destress. Young women are no longer cultivating in positive groups and finding sisterhood anymore. They don't have the responsibilities of attending sports and recreational activities anymore.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

When young women don't have these outlets during these teenage years, they tend to gain more weight leading to self-esteem issues, they cannot regulate their hormones that increases their sex drive and with unsafe sex precautions, they tend to feel isolated and alone due to the lack of comraderies that these groups tend to create. They spend more time on social media and/or indulging in some sort of abuse leading to addiction.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Yoga is a great tool to help with any mental health issue. Unknown or known. It's a great way to gain control of emotions and confidence. It has nothing but positive effects on the human body, improving moods, regulating weight gain, increasing energy and overall health.

    Who would that help?

This program would be focus on teenage women from ages 14-19 years of age

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

The South East Queens Community. The studio is located in South Ozone Park, so the surrounding zip codes will benefit.
