What problem would you like to solve?

Health disparities due to poor diet and food choices.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Our community has some of the highest rates of diet-related diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. This is relevant because it would empower the youth and their families to make healthy choices around food -- how to source it and prepare it and make a positive impact on health and wellness. Cooking programs also foster a sense of community building.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Community cooking school classes for youth and families in the South Bronx community.

    Who would that help?

Youth and families in the South Bronx.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

    Mott Haven, Port Morris, Melrose
