What problem would you like to solve?

There is a big problem with littering in low income communities of color. More garbage leads to higher rates of diseases and sickness. We want to promote better health for people. Less garbage also leads to less rats,

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

We need to make sure we promote health and safety in our communities. Less people getting sick means we spend less on healthcare. We also want to make our communities more attractive.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

We should have a program that promotes clean streets. This can be through PSAs in schools or on TV discussing the benefits of a clean community. That way community members are not throwing garbage in the streets. We also need to make sure residential buildings know the rules on how to get rid of garbage. And also help educate small businesses so they also know and comply with the rules on garbage.

    Who would that help?

    The community.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

    Manhattan/Dyckman/Inwood
