Bronx Wellness Together: Healthy Living, Movement & Stress Relief

What is your idea?
Bronx Wellness Together will provide free, accessible community workshops helping Bronx residents build healthy habits, manage stress, and reduce isolation. Led by McDougald Jackson Leake Community Development Corporation (MJLCDC), the program will combine practical nutrition education, affordable meal planning, gentle movement, walking groups, mindfulness, and peer connection. We propose serving 100-150 adults through 24 workshops and ongoing movement sessions, with qualified instructors and referrals to health care and community resources. Residents will gain practical skills and supportive relationships. We will track attendance, knowledge gained, and participants' confidence in managing their health and stress.
What problem is your idea trying to solve?
Bronx residents facing chronic health conditions, financial strain, and social isolation need affordable, accessible ways to improve their well-being. The cost of wellness programs. limited access to practical health information, and a lack of welcoming spaces for physical activity and connection can make healthy habits difficult to sustain. These barriers can be especially challenging for older adults and residents with limited income. Our idea addresses the need for free, community-based education, gentle movement, stress-management skills, and supportive relationships that help residents take practical steps toward better health.
