Del Valle Square is the proposed location, subject to site authorization and required approvals. Aim for 4–8 vending positions and up to eight months of vending after planning and a readiness review. Combine vendor assistance, day-to-day coordination, sanitation services, language support, and help understanding applicable rules. Vendors, neighbors, and nearby businesses would help shape clear operating rules, accessible pedestrian routes, fair participant selection, and a process for resolving concerns. Funding would support planning, staffing, vendor education, sanitation, accessibility support, insurance, and evaluation, with allowable costs confirmed before implementation. Progress would be measured through vendor participation, operating days, accessibility feedback, sanitation performance, and resolution of concerns. Findings would help determine whether the model supports livelihoods while maintaining a welcoming shared space. Site permission, operating costs, and partners still need to be secured</div></dd><dt name="textarea-1791493410531-0">What problem is your idea trying to solve?</dt><dd id="textarea-1791493410531-0" name="textarea"><div>Veterans and other Bronx street vendors need dignified opportunities to earn a living, but finding suitable places to work can involve uncertainty about space, accessibility, operating requirements, and available support. Without coordination, vendors, pedestrians, nearby businesses, and neighbours can face competing needs over shared space. Older vendors and vendors with disabilities may face extra barriers. The pilot would test a small authorized vending area with clear rules, accessible routes, sanitation, and vendor assistance, so the neighbourhood can share space more smoothly</div></dd><dt name="cycle-5-group">Which group(s) does your idea focus on?</dt><dd id="cycle-5-group" name="checkbox-group"><div alt="older-adults">Older Adults (65 +)</div><div alt="public-housing">Public Housing Residents</div><div alt="justice-impacted">Justice Impacted People</div><div alt="disabilities">People with Disabilities</div><div alt="lep">Limited English Speakers</div><div alt="immigrants-migrants">Immigrants / Migrants</div><div alt="veterans">Veterans</div><div alt="lgbtq-plus">LGBTQIA+ People</div><div alt="parents">Parents</div><div alt="unhoused">Unhoused People</div></dd></dl></xml>
