Describe the challenge you want to address:
To truly achieve reparative justice, education and cultural enrichment must take center stage, particularly in New York State and City's reparations initiatives. Prioritizing and leveraging education, cultural preservation, and community empowerment holds the key to unlocking meaningful change and rectifying the deep-seated historical injustices that have shaped our society.
What is the solution to the challenge?
The "Empowering Black History Education" program integrates the Black history exhibition into the K-12 curriculum, weaving Black history and culture into students' educational journey. Through class tours & student engagement, students will participate in guided tours of the exhibition, coordinated in partnership with NYC Public Schools. These tours will provide students with an immersive, hands-on experience that complements classroom learning, offering a dynamic and experiential approach to understanding history and bringing it vividly to life.
