Describe the challenge you want to address:

We need more inclusive extracurricular programs and services during school and also during the summer when school is out which shall offer youth particularly those of color to take them off of the streets and onto the pathway of success. There is little to no money that has been allocated in this conservative atmosphere for our youth. We need to teach them the history of the Bronx and those skills and traits which can carry them throughout their lives to places of success and significance.

What is the solution to the challenge?

The Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit will create afterschool, extracurricular and summer programs and services all inclusive in boys and girls basketball, take them off the streets and teach them not only basketball but teamwork, discipline and other skills necessary for success on and off the court. Youth will meet basketball Hall of Famers and seniors who will teach them about the rich history of basketball in the Bronx and how those players rose from the projects to go to college, become successful in life and make history. They will conduct lecture demonstrations, create basketball teams and tournaments, guide them to improve in school and go on to college, and mentor them in the games of basketball and life.
