Describe the challenge you want to address:
The challenge I want to address in my community is the rodent infestation and unclean streets, I want to address this challenge through the means of the community it self. I noticed that in my community lacks the resources and knowledge that we need to constantly keep our streets clean. Specifically we lack the man power, not enough people are in charge of sweeping these streets and additionally people in our community lack the knowledge of the consequences of littering, often times they don't realize that their very own litter that they leave on the street is what feeds rats and other critters which then results in them coming into our homes and apartments to find shelter.
What is the solution to the challenge?
The solution to this challenge is to firstly educate our community, I want to put posters in my building that give quick and easy to understand information on the consequences of littering, I want my building residents and neighborhood to understand that the rats and roaches wont go anywhere if they keep littering and no cleaning up after themselves and their pets, I am sure that this new found understanding and knowledge will definitely reduce the amount of food for these critters, which can lead to them dying. The second part of my solution is to get local highschool students to organize a community cleanup, in return for volunteer service hours this not only benefits the students by educating them and giving them a good incentive but it also benefits the community itself.
