Many Americans are unclear on practical steps to protect freedom and democracy, and societal divisions make it difficult to work with those of different political affiliations, ages, or economic backgrounds.\n\nMaintaining democracy and freedom is seen as a top priority across the political spectrum, yet effective action remains elusive.\n\n</div></dd><dt name=\"textarea-1727191235485-0\">What is the solution to the challenge?</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1727191235485-0\" name=\"textarea\">\n\n<div>What is the Solution\nThe Deliberative Café offers an inclusive, proven method to address these challenges. We propose selecting 36 Staten Island residents, representing diverse political, social, and economic demographics, to:\n\nConsult experts, such as historians, on threats to democracy and corruption.\nDeliberate collaboratively on actionable strategies to protect democracy in the U.S. and globally.\nCreate educational materials, including Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and social media content, to share these strategies broadly.\nWith Staten Island’s near-even political balance (120,709 Democrats vs. 100,752 Republicans), this initiative will model bipartisan collaboration and problem-solving.\n\nFindings will be disseminated through:\n\nSocial media campaigns, fostering broad engagement.\nA documentary, showcasing the process and its recommendations for local and global audiences.\nLocal partnerships, amplifying the materials’ reach through schools, media, and civic organizations.\nMeasurable Outcomes\nRecommendations resonate with diverse groups, demonstrated by social media shares and discussions.\nStaten Island is recognized as a center for non-partisan civic problem-solving, inspiring similar initiatives nationwide.\n\n</div></dd><dt name=\"number-1727191411855-0\">Please provide your Zip Code</dt><dd id=\"number-1727191411855-0\" name=\"number\">\n\n<div>10301\n\n</div></dd></dl></xml>"]
