    Project Description:

MMCC’s project will help address the lack of financial literacy among Bronx youth. A team of four Financial Literacy Instructors will provide a series of financial literacy classes for a total of 525 youth ages 14 to 24, including in-school youth and students who are out-of-school and out-of-work. Workshops will be offered in small groups of about 15 students. Each group will receive 8 one-hour classes that will cover a variety of topics, including but not limited to banking products, opening a bank account, credit and credit scores, debt, saving, budgeting, and financial planning. A Financial Counselor will also be available to provide one-on-one financial counseling and connection to additional support services on three days per week. Project staff will also continue to build on our established relationships with local banks that provide guest speakers. In addition, we will provide two hour workshops covering multiple topics for the community either in person or virtual to eligible community members who may have time constraints or inability to attend in person sessions.

    Funding Amount: $265,000
