Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

[your answer here]

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Expanding the contract for YEPS - which ends in April 2022 - provides young employees with a seamless transition into the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Laptop carts (15 laptops) to be provided to all YEPS host organizations for the youth to utilize. Technical assistance training to be implemented in the curriculum and DYCD program budget for youth to be equipped in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Cybersecurity, etc. This project is important because it provides youth with the administrative & technical skills needed to advance in a career field, bolster college applications, & expand their network. It will primarily serve inner-city youth across the five boroughs ages 15-21. The addition of laptop carts will ensure equity among all youth employees, as we have noted many do not have a laptop when they leave school to come to work. Technical assistance training will enhance their employability rate & also serve as a great benchmark for program success.

Who would that help?
