What problem would you like to solve?

Cyber bullying is becoming a serious problem affecting our youth, and is causing harmful experiences to younger people every year.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Cyber bullying negatively affects our youth and can lead to anxieties that prevent them from living their lives to the fullest, or getting the most out of their education. It is important for the community to know that its students are taken care of.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

    3 Point Plan:

First, create a reporting system wherein any student with 2 separate reports of being a bully will recieve outreach from a counselor. This counselor will determine the person's needs (as bullys are often suffering themselves) and will work with the student to develop healthy coping skills. A student would report bullying to their teacher, who would send an email to the counselor.

Second, we would educate youth in how to gether evidence that they are being bullied so they can more effectively get help to stop the bullying.

Third, educate the youth on how to defend themselves in person and online by blocking bullies and removing negative people or media from their personal accounts.

    Who would that help?

Any student in the NYC DOE who does not feels safe to go online.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

    Any neighborhood with a school.
