What problem would you like to solve?

Lack of access to health information in Portuguese

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

There is no information regarding health access (providers, insurance, etc) in Portuguese. The Brazilian immigrant community does not know where to go to receive medical care and its cost. Many believe if they seek medical care they can be deported.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Create a workshop series in Portuguese focused on access to health care; have access to health care information translated into Portuguese; and distribute the information across multiple means of communication, like subway ads, instagram ads, while still having physical places where the community can go to to pick up information in Portuguese.

    Who would that help?

    Brazilian immigrants in NYC

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Queens
