What problem would you like to solve?

I would like to solve the programmatic and attitudinal barriers people with disabilities face when trying to access public services in NYC.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Anyone can become disabled at any time for a wide-array of reasons. The COVID-19 pandemic has made this clearer. As more people join this community, services and access to them need to be more inclusive.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Provide disability sensitivity and awareness training to everyone who works with the public. All programs and services should be designed from the outset with people with disabilities in mind. People with disabilities should be included and leading the charge in trainings and design.

    Who would that help?

    Everyone

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Bronx
