Essential

Parks for mental health & wellbeing

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

more access to large public parks in Brooklyn (that don’t have anti-homeless architecture.)

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

I live outside of Williamsburg and I believe that the ability to sit outside in a safe place with grass and trees is significant to preventing mental health issues. Transportation makes it difficult to get to places like Prospect Park in my area.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Expanding community gardens into larger outdoor spaces with places to sit that don’t include anti-homeless architecture in the community gardens more welcoming.

Who would that help?

Everyone in the community

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Brooklyn
