Navigating NYC Systems For New Immigrants

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

[Helping New Immigrants understand how to get services from themselves and their families.]

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

[According to Highghbridge, the area has the lowest median income in NYC and is reported to have income 143% below the poverty line. (Highbridge Community Give Well). Many undocumented individuals reside in the area and are afraid to seek the services needed because of fear.]

What idea do you have to address the problem?

[MWIRD proposes to offer daily workshops that will assist new immigrants on how to access programs and systems that will help them facilitate getting the things they need to live here. It will also educate them on NYC; Highbridge is a sanctuary city.]

Who would that help?

[It will help the new immigrants, their families, and our community.]

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

[Highbridge]
