Essential

Homeless/Mental health Outreach Nostrand Avenue

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

Homeless or distressed persons on the street out between Lenox Rd and Linden Avenue on Nostrand Ave near the bus stops

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

These people need access to services that can help them be well during the day and nights, so they not disturb/distress/create fear amongst passersby waiting at the bus stops and going into grocery stores and shops at these busy intersections

What idea do you have to address the problem?

A homeless street outreach team (maybe support for one that already exists through CAMBA or another local org) that goes out onto the street to speak with people and gets them connected to some kind of mental health support or food pantry or supportive housing nearby

Who would that help?

The homeless/distressed people experiencing mental health episodes out on the street and the general public passing by and using the shops/buses at that intersection

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Flatbush, Brooklyn
