Essential

Healing the heart through music-Marguerite Sutherland

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

Introducing Art Songs, Classical, Jazz, Spiritual and Broadway tones to seniors

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Music is an inspiration to people. Music touches people hearts and calms the soul. During the corona pandemic 1000s of our senior expired, they lost their loved ones, felt abandoned and lonely. Seniors are vulnerable people who have so much love and wisdom too often are forgotten by society. The senior would have a change to engage and participate in the music presented

What idea do you have to address the problem?

I would like to introduce music to our seniors singing music in English, French, German, and Spanish to brighten their day, show love and make them feel happy. The senior would have a change to engage and participate in the music presented.

Who would that help?

Healing the heart would like to perform at nursing homes, senior center and hospitals in East Harlem, Central Harlem and Washington Heights. During July 2022 to June 2023, we would be able to perform 36 concerts. The performance would be for 1 hour 10 minutes with two professional singers with a pianist and 15 minutes talking about the composer, the music and what music they enjoy, why and etc.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
