What problem would you like to solve?

Youth violence and crime

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

It is important because our youth are our future, and if we don't help them see there is something more to life and that someone does care, then how much of a future do any of us really have?

What idea do you have to address the problem?

A 24 hours (or at least late evening) accessible youth center/ afterschool program in East Harlem with access to counseling or at least allowing students to stay in school after hours for activities and support.

It would also be beneficial to teach these children job readiness, sports activities and life skills such as cooking, ironing, job readiness, dance program, coding, music studio, beautician classes, yoga, wood shop, web design, self defense and more. . .

Who would that help?

Everyone, because a child not trying to commit a crime, is a life saved.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

East Harlem, Manhattan
