Essential

Community Empowerment

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

Lack of empowerment for intergenerational people (ages 25-55)

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

We should give people the tools to become self sufficient rather than expect them to have the knowledge or know where to find it on their own.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Funding for community centers to provide training on: budgeting, money management, house keeping, stock market, etc.

The programs can also have volunteer experts conducting job training and real world application skills.

Some companies could work together with the community center patrons, providing them with certain certifications in exchange for their employment for a certain duration.

The program could be offered to people of all ages though will be targeted to 25-55 year old people.

Who would that help?

The population that influences most of the north shores economy

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Stapleton, Staten Island
