Essential

Transportation Reform

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

I would like to solve people not feeling safe in public transportation. Every other week you hear someone being harassed on the buses or in the train.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

it is important because public transportation brings money to live in the city. So when people don't feel safe, the city wouldn't generate money from the MTA. People also lose their lives.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

For the subway, many people get harassed or pushed from the platforms. The city should build a barrier to save people from getting killed and create safety plans. For buses, at least one should be patrolling them, or surveillance should be improved.

Who would that help?

This would help low-income residents and anyone in NYC who doesn't want to drive and doesn't have enough money for gas.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

The Bronx
