Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Studies show racial disparities in basic water safety skills. The national lifeguard shortage exacerbates this problem.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Provide incentives for new lifeguard training and for retention. Subsidize training to ensure access for all, starting in early childhood.

Who would that help?

Children, primarily those without means and access to water safety training. Teens, young adults and adults seeking meaningful PT employment.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
