Essential

Community Center

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

The general consensus was surrounding more access to intergenerational educational workshops and youth services and programming. Participants indicated a desire for workshops on civic engagement, financial literacy, and job-training for immigrants to facilitate their integration into American society. The elders of the group demonstrated a particular need for access to senior citizen resources. From this conversation, emerged a proposal of an African cultural/community center. Participants feel that having a nerve center for the community would address many of their concerns. For example, the community center could serve as a space for youth services and programming and as well as a direct resource center for the emerging population of African seniors.
