Van Senior Excursion Program

What problem would you like to solve?

We do not have transportation for group trips and excursions for seniors. Public transit is dangerous for people with disabilities and who cannot walk as fast as younger people.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Seniors need access to safe and convenient transportation at all publically funded senior centers. Seniors cannot afford to pay for private services, especially considering the rise in crime in low income communities. Seniors are the majority of folks who are on fixed income.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

We need steady and consistently available transportation for seniors at all nycha senior centers and any centers that receive public funding.

Who would that help?

Seniors in low income housing and who use senior center programs.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

All neighborhoods.
