Pay landlords unpaid rent
it can take more than 6 mos, even yrs, to evict a non-paying tenant or squatter (T or S.) This can financially ruin lower-income landlords -often an owner-occupant- with few rental units. Add the cost of a lawyer & repairs to a damaged apts. Since gov. is requiring the owner to house non-paying Ts or Ss until HC issues a judgement, gov. should pay the owner for every mo. of occupancy that goes unpaid by the T. If the LL recovers back rent, gov. should be repaid.

You will need to provide sufficient proof to legally support your claims if things don't work out and you decide to evict your renter or even initiate a complaint to collect the rent arrears. Always ensure that agreements and notices are communicated in person and in writing. Especially if your renter has a history of paying rent past due, save copies of all your rental payment receipts to demonstrate their payment history.
