East New York 4 Gardens Inc

Overview of the Project - Please provide a brief description of the project.

For 20 twenty years, The organization has been trying to initiative an agricultural and environmental program that would enhance the community. East New York 4 Gardens Inc. is at a point of expansion and transitioning to make this project happen.

Herbal Garden/ Farms of East New York is one example of a functional education open space. We want to incorporate several other community gardens to complete the program. Each garden needs new blood.

The goal we describe in helping build a resilient local food system is by educating the community where healthy & fresh food/ herbs come from. The open space has received donations and assistance from private and city agencies. We have established the growing area this year. CSA program is collecting materials needed and building a mailing list. We have been volunteering distributing food boxes with local non profits. (examples are the Universe City Group and The C.R.I.B. or Good Shepherd Services) Now we are looking to add a paid staff of local talent and your support to complete building this project. We are focused to become a source in the community.

This open space farm will be environmentally friendly. Examples are collecting community organic waste for compost. We will also teach the benefits of recycling in the community. Saving and giving out extra seeds and plants to the community. The open space will introduce beneficial insects back to the area. Our bees will use pollination first and honey second. We are setting up rain water harvesting to crops and decorated floral. We will have a clothing exchange for the community that will be free.

The problem we are solving is building a Farmer's market to:

a.) Build our brand as a non-profit organization and community advocate for the community.

b.) Teach our youth and community on environmental issues that plague us and combat i

c.) Serve the community with healthy produce & herbs while building a healthy food group that we will monitor.

d.) Setting up a CSA (food co-op) with fresh food and herb demonstrations.

e.) Distribute food boxes to the community. (for the pandemic emergency) that would enhance the community. East New York 4 Gardens Inc. is at a point of expansion and transitioning to make this project happen.
