Free Coding and Technology Hubs for Kids

What is your idea?
Create free coding and technology hubs for children and teens ages 7–17 at existing libraries, community centers, and partner spaces across the Bronx. Offer after-school, weekend, and summer programs where students learn coding, game design, robotics, website creation, online safety, and responsible AI use through fun, hands-on projects. Partner with community organizations to provide trained instructors. age-based learning groups, computers, and materials during sessions so families do not need to purchase equipment. Connect students with college mentors and technology professionals, and host showcases where children share what they build.
What problem is your idea trying to solve?
Cost, lack of equipment, and distance can prevent Bronx children from participating in hands-on technology programs. Families need free, safe, engaging places where children can explore their interests after school and on weekends. This program would reduce those barriers by bringing instruction, computers, and mentorship into neighborhood spaces. Children could build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while discovering future education and career opportunities in technology.
Which group(s) does your idea focus on?
Youth (under 24)
Older Adults (65 +)
