Describe the challenge you want to address:

African community feels lack of connection to African-American community. Lack of knowledge of roots and history on continent. Also, young first-generation Africans know less about the history than their parents. Schools are not doing an adequate job of teaching Black/African history.

Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:

Afterschool programming across the borough of the Bronx dedicated to studying Black and African history at houses of worship and community centers. Collaboration with churches, mosques, and community centers to teach agreed upon curriculum.
