Describe the challenge you want to address:
I would like to address the challenge of having the elderly, disabled, low and middle income families living in non safe housing while there’s plenty of empty, nice, safe dwellings around NYC.
Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:
There’s plenty of empty housing around NYC. The issue is the price tags that come with them. My idea is to have the government fund a program to move people from their unsafe dwellings into one of these nice, new buildings that have been built. Our current housing connects, city feps, & section 8 programs aren’t addressing the unique housing challenges of our community. Once the residents are moved from their unsafe housing we can then focus on rebuilding what was left behind so that we don’t destroy the planet by leaving behind a mess.
