Play Time Box in city playgrounds

What is your idea?
Purchasing, installing, and maintaining a network of NYC Play Time Boxes across NYC playgrounds, starting with a pilot neighborhood. These NYC Play Time Boxes should be weather-resistant and large in size to be able to fit a range of small outdoor play equipment and toys that are gently used/donated by community members for all to enjoy. Play Time Boxes are unlocked at the start of the day and locked up at the end of the day by existing Parks Staff/community volunteers. The idea is to Play, Return, and Donate!
What problem is your idea trying to solve?
The NYC Play Time Boxes will help make outdoor play in our neighborhoods more accessible so kids play with shared resources rather than feeling left out if they are unable to afford their own toys. In a way, this may help facilitate kids at playgrounds to play together more easily or feel like they can approach one another more easily to play with shared resources rather than personal toys. It is also a means for families in the neighborhood to pass on toys and play equipment that may no longer serve their household, rather than throwing them out completely (circular economy!). Finally, NYC Play Time Boxes may help encourage participants of all ages to be creative with toys that they may not be familiar with or have at home.
