City Staff Ideas Challenge

Ideas Challenge Prompt: What is the boldest idea that you believe the Mayor can pursue to improve the lives of all New York City residents? Please describe your idea in 1-2 sentences, including the problem you’re trying to solve. (Ex: Curbing Waste. Introduce enclosed, on-street containers for all commercial trash and recycling to reduce the amount of trash bags on city sidewalks.)

You will be asked to categorize your idea within one of the 10 issue areas before submitting. If you'd like to share more than one idea, please submit each idea separately. You may also submit an idea as a group, provided all members of that group are City employees. We welcome all staff to engage with others' ideas using the upvote and comment functions. A moderator will monitor the site to ensure that content remains constructive, on-topic, and respects the views of other participants.

Semi-finalist selection will consider the following criteria:

1. Innovation - What is the scale of the problem this idea is trying to solve? How does the idea bring a bold, creative, or new approach to the issue at hand?
2. Implementation - Does the proposed solution fall within the purview of City government? Are there feasible resources (budget, political will, etc.) to implement the idea? 
3. Timeline - What is the timeline for implementation of the idea? (ideally, top ideas will be able to be piloted or implemented within 1-3 years)
4. Partnership - Does the idea build upon existing City partnerships across agencies, civil society, and constituency groups? Does the idea envision new partnerships?
5. Equity - Does the idea advance a firm commitment to equity and inclusion in mission, population served, and/or reach?
