As many have noted, NYC is expensive, and many of the residents who work for the city sometimes spend half their paycheck or more on rent and other living expenses in NYC. So let's prioritize NYC residents. Although a few credits will land you a higher score on Civil Service exams (i.e., Veterans credit), let us add one for NYC Residents (20+ points).

Have applicants claim the credit upon completing the online application, upload a picture of their NYS driver's license, and validate the information. The exam is scored with the credit applied and ranked accordingly. Applicants must maintain residency when their number is reached. If they are no longer an NYC resident, the applicant must work with DCAS to re-score and may interview again when their number is reached.
This process does not exclude non-NYC residents but rather prioritizes New Yorkers contributing most to NYC's economy.
There are no residency requirements for most positions to participate in the examination diggy but eligible candidates may be given preference in appointment.
