Support City Worker Bike Commuters!
I am a 50+ woman with a chronic disability who's been a NYC bike commuter for more than 25 years. I currently work for NYC Parks, an agency which provides thousands of free employee parking spaces and scant or no indoor or protected parking for cyclists agencywide. My proposal is simple and cheap - all city agency buildings must provide bike access & secure indoor bike parking and CitiBikes should be free for city workers or at least covered by TransitChek.

Think of the savings in healthcare costs!
Parks employees struggle to find bike parking at Parks HQ in Central Park. Silly if you think about it!
I whole heartedly agree! I work in a city office with no indoor bike parking, and very little parking available outside where I have to worry all day that my bike will be stolen or vandalized (which has happened) and then I won't be able to pick my kid up at school on time. A free or subsidized Citi Bike membership is a no-brainer for city employees. At the very least, we should be able to pay for the membership with pre-tax commuter benefit dollars, which we currently cannot do. Why?!
