Absolutely agree! We are asked to come into our offices 5 days a week and are unable to benefit from the OMNY system because our commuter benefits cards do not have a tap option and cannot be loaded onto apple/google pay. Ultimately, we are paying more than we have to to commute in every day.

I contacted Edenred a few months ago and asked them if I could link my transit debit card to my apple wallet to take advantage of the new OMNY fare capping pilot and they said they’re “waiting on the City”.

You can purchase an OMNY card ($5), and link the Edenred Commuter Benefit card as the funding source for the OMNY card. As the OMNY card balance run low, it will just auto-replenish by charging the refill to the Edenred card.

That being said, I don't know if you're SUPPOSED/ALLOWED to do that. I haven't gotten a clear answer from my agency's HR, but I've heard NYC employees from another agency do this.
