Create more free legal services for low and middle income housing cooperatives
Cooperatives are a powerful tool to deconcentrate ownership of the city's housing stock and generate wealth in formerly redlined communities, but our legal and cultural systems are not designed with them in mind. Wealthy cooperators have access to attorneys that lower-income cooperators do not, for example; providing free legal + mediation services to both boards and households will be essential to ensure their long-term viability, especially as the City scales up its investments in CLTs.
