Allow NYC office workers to work remotely
COVID-19 showed what a powerful tool teleworking is for the resilience & wellbeing of NYC. Through it, NY continued working and providing services to our customers and stakeholders while strengthening local communities.
My proposal is to allow City office workers to telework three days a week.
Telework creates a workforce that allows NYC to meet any challenge. It is good for work-life balance & mental health, and reduces congestion on crowded subways.

Offering hybrid work options for positions that do not require onsite work will make NYC a more competitive employer. It is already difficult to attract and retain qualified employees due to the compensation ranges for certain positions within the City civil service system and remote work options offered in the private sector. Employees have shown that it can be done effectively. It will reduce traffic and public transportation congestion, spread economic spending across the five boroughs as employees will spend at their work location and their home location.
I strongly concur with Melanie!
