Remote Work Policy
A work from home policy for all non-essential city employees regardless of title, should be implemented to reduce the level of anxiety people are having due to commuting. We have proven that we're able to do our jobs effectively and efficiently from home. This policy would boost employee morale, reduce stress/anxiety, cleaner environment, greater productivity and more job satisfaction.

NYC workers commute whether by public transport or private vehicle. Work from home is a direct benefit for our natural environment and our personal and family health, as proven during the pandemic. The City could charge workers who elect to work from home (amount of days would need to be agreed to per agency) a nominal amount fringe benefit similar to what Unions do now for services. The proceeds would be placed in a "Green Fund" used by the City for environmental projects which would improve NYC's sustainability and provide resources funding. For example, if half the people in my agency (400 non-essential) elected to work from home twice a week and contributed $5 fringe benefit/day it would equal $4,000 per week and would equal $208,000. per year to the City for Green projects just from 400 people. If 100,000 City workers did this the proceeds would be just over $50 million.
Happy workers+good environment+$ for Green Projects. A WIN WIN.
