Child Care Facilities on the the Premises
There should be sections in every agency where the city workers can take their kids so they do not have to choose between family and work. there use to be a proposal that allowed a company that does 24 hour child care to operate in New York. Especial the essential ones that had to go to work while their child had to do school work at home during lock down. Some hospitals in other states have daycare for staff on the premises. These are things that should be incorporated in nyc as well.

Mayor Adams himself has been in favor of using City property to expand childcare spaces, responding to a question of how to address gaps in our caregiving systems by suggesting “[w]e can start by removing the biggest cost to childcare providers of young children: space. We will do this by prioritizing space in City-owned buildings for childcare” (amayorfornycwomen.org/eric-adams/). Free childcare for city employees would be an enormous help to workers and go a long ways towards reducing the gender wage gap. Remote work options for staff could also help free up the physical space for such facilities. I am seeing too many of my coworkers who are caregivers struggle to find and afford childcare!
