A common-sense hybrid-work policy to keep NYC lean, innovating, and competitive
We are a hardworking city of innovators, and leaders. Speaking on behalf of my fellow city workers, we have proven that we can be productive during the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, so lets adopt a flexible approach.
A common sense hybrid work policy will restore equity, quality of life and respect to NYC’s dedicated civil servants. It will retain the amazing talent the city workforce has, even as many consider leaving for so many other opportunities that do offer telework.

The current administration repeatedly states that they want to prioritize results and efficiency. So why aren't we reevaluating city employee working arrangements to accommodate a hybrid model? A recent NY Times article shows that only 8% work full-time on-site. NYC has employed the most extraordinary public-sector workforce globally, and we should innovate contemporary solutions instead of propping up the current working model since its status quo.
