The cost of childcare can be overwhelming for working families. Especially those with multiple children and for single parent households. The average child care costs for infants is $21,112 a year, for toddlers is $16,380 a year,and for a child between 3 and 5 is $11,616 a year. Some unions provide their members with a voucher however you have to pay upfront and there is a yearly cap. Childcare should be affordable for ALL not just families who are able to qualify for a subsidize program.

There should be sections in every agency where the city workers can take their kids so they do not have to choose between family and work. there use to be a proposal that they were going to allow the company that does 24 hour child care to come to New York for city workers especial the essential ones that had to go to work while their child had to do school work at home. Some hospitals in other states even have daycare for the staff on the premises. These are things that should be incorporated in nyc as well.
